Healthy Mediterranean Tuna Salad

A vibrant and fresh tuna salad recipe made with Greek yogurt, crisp vegetables, and zesty lemon, offering a healthy and delicious alternative to the traditional mayo-laden version. Perfect for quick lunches and meal prep!

  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

2 (5-ounce) cans albacore tuna in water, drained well
1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt (full-fat or 2% for creaminess)
1/4 cup finely diced celery
1/4 cup finely diced red onion
1/4 cup finely diced red bell pepper
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons fresh chopped dill
2 tablespoons fresh chopped parsley
Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

Step 1: Thoroughly drain the canned tuna, pressing out as much liquid as possible. Transfer the drained tuna to a medium mixing bowl.
Step 2: Add the finely diced celery, red onion, and red bell pepper to the bowl with the tuna.
Step 3: In a small separate bowl, whisk together the plain Greek yogurt, fresh lemon juice, Dijon mustard, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
Step 4: Pour the Greek yogurt dressing over the tuna and vegetables. Gently fold all the ingredients together until the tuna is coated and everything is well mixed, being careful not to overmix.
Step 5: Stir in the fresh chopped dill and parsley, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the tuna salad.
Step 6: Taste the tuna salad and adjust seasonings as needed. You may want to add more salt, pepper, or lemon juice to your preference.
Step 7: Serve immediately, or cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. This healthy tuna salad recipe is best enjoyed chilled.

Notes

For best results, use good quality canned tuna in water or olive oil. Adjust the amount of Greek yogurt to your desired creaminess. This tuna salad keeps well in the refrigerator for 3-4 days in an airtight container.
