Ingredients
1.25 lbs lean ground turkey (93/7 recommended)
1/4 cup Panko breadcrumbs
1/4 cup finely chopped onion or shallot
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (optional, for extra umami)
1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking)
4 burger buns, toasted
Optional toppings: lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickles, cheese, avocado, your favorite burger sauce
Instructions
Step 1: In a large bowl, gently combine the ground turkey, Panko breadcrumbs, chopped onion (or shallot), minced garlic, fresh parsley, smoked paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce (if using). Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the burgers tough.
Step 2: Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and form them into patties, about 3/4-inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb to prevent them from bulging while cooking.
Step 3: Heat olive oil in a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully place the turkey patties into the pan.
Step 4: Cook for 5-7 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the patties are nicely browned and cooked through. If grilling, grill over medium heat for the same duration.
Step 5: If adding cheese, place a slice on top of each patty during the last 2 minutes of cooking and cover the pan (or close the grill lid) to melt.
Step 6: While the burgers are cooking, lightly toast your burger buns.
Step 7: Assemble your burgers: place a cooked turkey patty on a toasted bun, and add your favorite toppings such as lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickles, and sauce. Serve immediately and enjoy your delicious turkey burger recipe!
Notes
For an extra juicy burger, consider adding a tablespoon of shredded zucchini or a dash of milk to the mixture. Don’t press down on the patties while cooking, as this squeezes out the juices.
