Ingredients
1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent rolls or dough sheet
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
Optional: 1/2 cup powdered sugar and 1 tablespoon milk for glaze
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
Step 2: In a small bowl, mix together the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon until well combined.
Step 3: Unroll the crescent dough onto a flat surface. If using rolls, pinch the perforations together to form a solid rectangle. Brush the melted butter over the entire surface of the dough.
Step 4: Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the buttered dough, pressing slightly so it adheres.
Step 5: Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, cut the dough into 8 long strips. Fold each strip in half and twist several times to create a spiral shape.
Step 6: Place the twists on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 9-11 minutes, or until the warm cinnamon crescent twists are golden brown and puffed.
Step 7: Allow to cool for 2 minutes before serving. If desired, whisk the powdered sugar and milk together and drizzle over the warm twists.
Notes
Ensure your oven is fully preheated for the best rise. For extra crunch, use coarse sanding sugar instead of regular granulated sugar.
