Ultimate Refreshing Watermelon Slushie

Beat the heat with this incredibly easy and refreshing watermelon slushie recipe, perfect for a hot summer day or a delightful breakfast treat! Made with frozen watermelon and a touch of lime, it’s a healthy, hydrating, and naturally sweet beverage.

  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

4 cups frozen watermelon chunks (seedless preferred)
1–2 tablespoons fresh lime juice (from about 1 medium lime)
1–2 tablespoons honey, agave nectar, or granulated sugar (optional, to taste)
Optional: small splash of water or plain ice if too thick to blend

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare your watermelon. Cut fresh watermelon into 1-inch cubes. Spread them in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet and freeze for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, until solid.
Step 2: Gather your ingredients. Once the watermelon is frozen solid, transfer the frozen chunks to a high-powered blender. Add the fresh lime juice.
Step 3: Blend to perfection. Start blending on a low setting, gradually increasing to high. Use a tamper to push the frozen watermelon towards the blades if your blender has one. If the mixture is too thick to blend, add water (1-2 tablespoons at a time) or a few ice cubes, just enough to get the blades moving. Continue blending until a smooth, icy slushie consistency is achieved.
Step 4: Taste and adjust. Stop the blender and taste the watermelon slushie. If your watermelon wasn’t very sweet, or if you prefer a sweeter drink, add honey, agave nectar, or sugar now. Blend again briefly to incorporate.
Step 5: Serve immediately. Pour the ultimate watermelon slushie into chilled glasses. Garnish with a lime wedge or a fresh mint sprig, and enjoy right away!

Notes

For the best texture and flavor, make sure your watermelon is perfectly ripe and frozen solid. Freezing the watermelon ahead of time is key to avoiding a watery slushie. If you don’t have a high-powered blender, you might need to add a touch more liquid or blend in smaller batches.
