Refreshing Watermelon Smoothie

Beat the heat with this incredibly easy and hydrating watermelon smoothie recipe. Made with fresh, frozen watermelon and a hint of lime, it’s the perfect natural treat for summer.

  • Total Time: 5 minutes
  • Yield: 2 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

4 cups cubed, frozen watermelon
12 tablespoons fresh lime juice (from about 1/2 lime)
12 teaspoons honey or agave nectar (optional, to taste)

Instructions

Step 1: Add the frozen watermelon chunks to a high-speed blender.
Step 2: Pour in the fresh lime juice. Start with 1 tablespoon and adjust later if you prefer more tang.
Step 3: If using, add 1-2 teaspoons of honey or agave nectar. This is optional and depends on the sweetness of your watermelon and your personal preference.
Step 4: Secure the lid and blend on high speed until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy. Use a tamper if necessary, or stop and scrape down the sides to ensure even blending.
Step 5: If the smoothie is too thick, add a tiny splash of water (1 tablespoon at a time) and blend again until you reach your desired consistency. If it’s too thin, add a few more frozen watermelon chunks and re-blend.
Step 6: Taste the smoothie and adjust sweetness or lime juice as needed.
Step 7: Pour immediately into glasses and serve cold. Garnish with a lime slice or a small watermelon wedge if desired.

Notes

For the best texture and flavor, always use frozen watermelon. If you don’t have time to freeze your own, buy pre-frozen watermelon chunks from the grocery store. This prevents a watery smoothie and keeps the flavor concentrated. A touch of fresh mint can also elevate this recipe beautifully!
