Homemade Wendy’s Frosty (Chocolate)

A surprisingly easy and incredibly delicious copycat recipe for Wendy’s classic chocolate Frosty, achieving that perfect creamy, thick, and chocolatey consistency you know and love, right in your own kitchen.

  • Total Time: 2 hours 5 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

2 cups (480ml) whole milk, very cold
1/2 cup (120ml) heavy cream, very cold
1/2 cup (150g) sweetened condensed milk
1/4 cup (24g) unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Instructions

Step 1: Gather all your ingredients: cold whole milk, cold heavy cream, sweetened condensed milk, unsweetened cocoa powder, and vanilla extract.
Step 2: In a high-powered blender, combine the cold whole milk, heavy cream, sweetened condensed milk, unsweetened cocoa powder, and vanilla extract.
Step 3: Blend on high speed for 30-60 seconds, or until the mixture is completely smooth and well combined. Ensure there are no lumps of cocoa powder.
Step 4: Pour the blended mixture into a shallow, freezer-safe container (such as a loaf pan or a 9×13 inch baking dish).
Step 5: Place the container in the freezer for 2-3 hours. Every 30-45 minutes, remove the container and stir the mixture vigorously with a spoon or whisk. This prevents large ice crystals and creates the signature creamy, thick Frosty texture. Continue until it reaches your desired consistency.
Step 6: Once the desired consistency is achieved, pour into serving glasses and enjoy immediately.

Notes

For the best results, ensure all dairy ingredients are as cold as possible before blending. The stirring process during freezing is key to achieving the perfect, smooth frosty texture, so don’t skip it! If it freezes too solid, let it sit at room temperature for 10-15 minutes or blend for a few seconds to soften.
