Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter, melted
2 cups granulated sugar
4 large eggs, room temperature
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
3/4 cup Dutch-processed cocoa powder
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup green buttercream frosting
16 chocolate wafer cookies
16 Hershey’s Kisses
Small tube of orange piping gel
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8×8 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
Step 2: In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and granulated sugar until well combined and slightly pale.
Step 3: Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
Step 4: Sift in the cocoa powder, flour, and salt. Fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture using a spatula until just combined.
Step 5: Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for 25-30 minutes until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
Step 6: Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan before lifting them out and cutting them into 16 even squares.
Step 7: Pipe a circle of green buttercream onto each brownie. Place a chocolate wafer cookie on top, add a dab of frosting to a Hershey’s Kiss, and press it onto the center of the cookie to create the hat.
Step 8: Use orange piping gel to create a small ribbon around the base of the hat for the final touch on your wicked witch brownies recipe.
Notes
For the best results, use Dutch-processed cocoa to get a dark, ‘witchy’ color without needing food dye in the brownie itself.
