1.5 oz Gold Puerto Rican or Jamaican Rum
1.5 oz Silver/White Rum
1 oz 151-proof Overproof Rum
0.75 oz Fresh Lime Juice
0.5 oz Donn’s Mix (2 parts grapefruit juice, 1 part cinnamon syrup)
0.5 oz Falernum syrup
1 tsp Grenadine
1 dash Angostura Bitters
6 drops Absinthe or Pastis
6 oz Crushed Ice
Fresh Mint Sprig for garnish
Instructions
Step 1: Chill your tall Collins glass or tiki mug in the freezer for at least 10 minutes prior to preparation.
Step 2: Add the gold rum, silver rum, overproof rum, lime juice, Donn’s Mix, falernum, grenadine, bitters, and absinthe into a cocktail shaker.
Step 3: Add approximately 6 ounces of crushed ice to the shaker.
Step 4: Shake vigorously for about 10 seconds or use a flash-blender for 5 seconds to achieve the perfect aeration and chill.
Step 5: Pour the entire contents of the shaker, including the ice, into your chilled glass.
Step 6: Top with additional crushed ice if needed to fill the glass to the brim.
Step 7: Garnish with a large, slapped sprig of fresh mint and serve with a straw.
Notes
Always use fresh lime and grapefruit juice for the best results. The 151-proof rum is essential for the authentic punch.
